About Me
Hi! My name is Jackson. I am a student at the University of Alabama studying Computer Science. I'm from Poplar Grove, Illinois and graduated from Belvidere North High School where I ran track as a hurdler. I am passionate about technology and enjoy learning new things, and I am currently searching for a summer internship for 2024.
My story with technology began when I was very young and my Dad introduced me to one of the old Microsoft Flight Simulator games. I was hooked, and flying around and even crashing into things was simply the most fun thing to me. For a long time, I wanted to be a pilot, but as I grew older, I realized that I was more interested in the technology that made the flight simulator work. I started to learn about computers and programming, and I've been on that track ever since.
I am a National Rural and Small Town Scholar which has thankfully enabled me to attend the University of Alabama. I am planning to be an RA for the upcoming school year and am excited to be a part of the community. I'm a former karting champion and semi-professional racing driver, and I plan to involve myself with Alabama's Formula SAE team. I am always looking for ways to get involved on campus and in the community. Feel free to contact me regarding this!
My career goals are to work in the technology industry, and I am particularly interested in software development and cybersecurity. I am always looking for new opportunities to learn and grow, and I am excited to see where my career takes me. In addition to this, I have a slight preference in the aviation or automotive industry, but I am adaptable and open to new experiences. With this in mind, I've made several contributions over the years on GitHub projects (my own and others) since as early as 2017. You can view my contributions by clicking the "Projects" button on the top left of this page (though some are private). I am always looking for new projects to work on and new people to meet, so feel free to reach out to me!
My skills include C, C++, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Lua, and more. I am also familiar with Git, GitHub, and Linux. I can type 100wpm and am familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite. I am also familiar with the Adobe Suite and have experience with Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. I've made websites like this one professionally and for fun, and have even developed JavaScript based chatbots (see GitHub).
